An incredible night for Portsmouth Theatres
What an incredible night for Portsmouth theatre. If you follow our social media, you might have already seen the news that the team here at Portsmouth Theatres took home five awards at the very first Spotlight Awards.
These brand new awards were created by local theatre blogger Steve Carter in partnership with Express FM.
It is a fantastic new initiative designed to celebrate the immense talent we have right here in our city, and we are so proud to be a part of this thriving, supportive community. As Portsmouth Theatres, we have the absolute privilege of managing both The Kings Theatre and the Theatre Royal, so seeing our venues and productions recognised means the world to us.
We want to send a massive congratulations to our phenomenal creatives and cast members who took home awards in their respective categories.
First up, a huge round of applause goes to Jacqueline Willis, who won Best Choreography for her incredible work on Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. Her choreography was amazing, and this recognition is so well deserved.
The leading talent continued to shine with Stephanie Aves, who won Best Performance In A Female Role in A Musical for her wonderful portrayal of Truly Scrumptious in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.
Our production of ‘The Full Monty’ also had an award winning night, with Perry Ralls taking home the award for Best Supporting Performance In a Male Role in a Musical for his brilliant portrayal of Dave Bukatinsky. On top of that, the visionary behind the show, Jack Edwards, won Best Direction Of A Musical.
Finally, rounding out our fantastic five is Peta Reading, who won Best Supporting Performance In Female Role in a Musical for her crowd pleasing role as Jeanette Bureister in The Full Monty.
While these individuals brought home the trophies, theatre is always a team effort. We want to say a huge thank you to our incredible audiences who fill our seats and cheer us on, as well as our hardworking casts and crews behind the scenes who make the magic happen every single night.
