Update from our CEO: 29 MAY

Good Evening,

Hopefully you are well and have had a chance to enjoy some of this glorious weather.

Slowly the lockdown is easing – but we still have no clarification about when it will be possible to open our doors and raise the curtain.

In the meantime we are preparing for when we can open, developing plans to keep you, staff, and performers all safe. We are also doing essential maintenance inside the theatre; painting the dressing rooms, sorting and testing all our stage equipment, changing light bulbs – you can only imagine how many are in the theatre – and I’m delighted to announce we are improving the flooring in the Stalls. I agree it is well overdue, but it is one of the few silver linings that at last we have the time to do it now.

I’ll be taking a look over the building tomorrow (Saturday 30 May) with our talented Creative Director, Mr Jack Edwards, and you can join us LIVE on Facebook from 1pm. We’ll be talking about the theatre and our plans for reopening – when it’s safe to do so – as well as discovering some parts of the building that aren’t often seen by the public. So join us on Facebook for what is sure to be a unique backstage tour!

Jack has spent the last few weeks on the hot line to new and old producers booking and moving a great line up of shows into 2021. We have some incredible performances to look forward to, from Pop Princesses to Comedy at the Kings and lots in between. We’re sure there’s something to suit you and all your family and friends. You have my word if any shows do not go on, you will be able to exchange or get a refund (excluding fees) for any tickets bought.

Thank you for supporting us through this time – without you the audience – we are nothing. And as I said before I am personally committed to steering the Kings through this uncertain time and we will be ready to open as soon as we can.

Stay safe and well,

Paul Woolf
