The Kings Theatre Arts Academy (KTAA) has proudly run youth programmes in Portsmouth for over a decade. We offer weekly classes in acting, singing and dancing to those aged 4 – 18 years old, led by industry professionals. We strive for every session to be fun, social and educational to ensure participants get a positive, well-rounded experience with every class. Throughout the year, there are opportunities to perform at the Kings Theatre in large scale productions and creative projects as well as participating in specialist workshops and national festivals.
Year R – 2 explore the performing arts through theatre games, exercises and activities. The perfect introduction to theatre, a great way to learn and develop new skills, build self-confidence and make friends in a safe and positive environment. This class will rotate working on acting, singing and dancing.
Year 3 – 13 will develop significant skills in all three disciplines of acting, singing and dancing which will enable participants to build a fundamental understanding of creating and performing theatre. Our programme is designed to support ongoing learning which will advance which each year, resulting in participants gaining invaluable academic and hands-on experiences.

The theatre has recognised the lack of opportunity through the pandemic and the rising cost of living, so as part of the relaunch there is further emphasis on inclusivity and development of talent. Kings Theatre Arts Academy will have a commitment to delivering first class training in a supportive environment and to provide places to dedicated young performers that may not normally be able to attend by introducing a scholarship programme that will fund £25,000 worth of places in a year.
